Previously, the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was linked with Orlando Pirates, and at the time AmaZulu were not keen to lose his services.
In 2022, the KwaZulu-Natal giants offered the shot-stopper signed a long-term contract to take him to at least 2026.
While Pirates are believed to be keeping an eye on Mothwa’s services, Sekhukhune United are understood to be also monitoring the player.

“Veli Mothwa has done well at AmaZulu since joining the club from Chippa United where he was also doing fine. That he was at the Africa Cup of Nations with Bafana is proof of the progress he has made over the years. There is interest in his services and Pirates and Sekhukhune are some of the clubs keeping an eye on him. AmaZulu won’t stand in the player’s way if a right offer is received,” said the source.
This season, Mothwa has featured in 13 matches in the league for Usuthu as coach Pablo Franco Martin has also been giving a chance to the young Olwethu Mzimela in goals in some matches.
